Small original abstract landscape painting with expressive brushstrokes, texture, drips and layers of paint removed to reveal the memories of a changing historic landscape.
Created with emotion and atmosphere to encapsulate the changing season of the Lake District hills and fells in Langdale. I walked around Elterwater quarry and the surrounding area, which is a heritage site and full of history for slate mining and gun powder production. Slater's bridge is a beautiful historic 17th century Grade 2 listed packhorse bridge built with slabs of slate, that you can still walk over back to Elterwater village from Cathedral cave.
I paint artwork to convey the tranquility of nature, inspired by changing seasons, wild landscapes, memories and a sense of place.
